Sales / Business Development Specialist

Sage Island is seeking a highly-motivated and outgoing Business Development Specialist to expand our clientele by identifying new sales leads, selling website design and search engine marketing services, serving as the liaison between clients and the agency, and maintaining a good working relationship with current clients.

The Business Development Specialist partners with the client to understand their overall business objectives, and leads in the development of digital and traditional campaigns to meet the client’s needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in marketing strategy and execution, as well as delivering effective electronic and traditional advertising programs. Experience working with digital marketing solutions including SEO, social media, analytics, mobile, and ecommerce marketing is preferred.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop, nurture, and grow strong client relationships by assessing client needs and proposing appropriate marketing services
  • Propose website design, search engine marketing, and traditional advertising services that meet each clients’ needs
  • Lead and develop sound, results-oriented, strategic recommendations based on a clear understanding of each client’s customers, competition, industry, and business
  • Cold call new leads and leverage existing client relationships
  • Develop client proposals and project estimates, present solutions to clients, and close new business
  • Monitor the profitability of accounts, analyze and report on results, as well as track and manage for profitability
  • Effectively manage contacts, proposal pipeline, account issues, and other duties as assigned
  • Facilitate internal team discussions and client interactions (meetings, emails, phone calls)
  • Stay abreast of clients’ products, brand positioning, and competitive landscape

Skills/Abilities & Requirements:

  • Ambitious, confident, and outgoing personality with a thorough understanding of how business works
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent required and authorized to work in the US
  • 5+ years work experience in sales or project management
  • Ability to build and manage strong client relationships
  • Proven capability to manage and spearhead both electronic and traditional marketing strategies
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment
  • Self starter with a positive attitude, who can work independently yet be a pivotal team player
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Position requires significant time on the computer, making phone calls, participating in meetings, and some travel
  • Advertising/marketing agency experience preferred
