Sage Island Partners with Susan G. Komen NC Triangle to the Coast
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will take place this Saturday, March 1st in downtown Wilmington. This is the second year the race has taken place in Wilmington, and Sage Island was happy to partner with the Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast affiliate in both digital marketing and traditional public relations efforts.
Our design team created custom social media graphics for both the affiliate Facebook and Twitter pages, integrating their signature Wilmington film strip across both platforms. We also incorporated photos of women from the inaugural race to enhance their campaign concept. Other custom graphics we designed included a signature “proud sponsor” graphic to provide to the many sponsors of the race as well as various campaign-specific designs. Our team also designed printed cards for Belk, title event sponsor, to feature on counters throughout their local stores to promote the race.
Our social and content development team created a comprehensive content guide to complement their existing posts and tweets. We infused their social media outlets with stories of real women, integrating campaigns such as ‘Why I Run’ and ‘I Dedicate My Run to You.’ By featuring true stories of why women run in general, why they’re running this race in particular and who they are dedicating it to, we captured tangible women whom Komen’s audience could truly relate to.
Sage Island was also able to secure segments on local news stations, such as WECT and WWAY, highlighting breast cancer survivors and their experiences with the race. We also booked a radio interview on WHQR 91.3 for the Komen spokesperson. Additionally, print media outlets such as Wilmington Parent, Wilma, Our State, Better Living and Greater Wilmington Business Journal featured the event in their publications.
