Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast

by Mara D’Auria

Each year, Sage Island is proud to work with the Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle to the Coast, as both a sponsor and a marketing agency. Founded in 1997, Komen NCTC is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Those efforts include providing funding for breast health services, breast cancer education, and outreach in a 29-county region.

One of their main events that helps them accomplish these goals is the Komen Wilmington Race for the Cure, a 5K that takes place in conjunction with the QuintilesIMS Wrightsville Beach Marathon Madness Weekend. (The 5K takes place this year on March 19, 2017, and it’s never too early to register!)

To help promote Komen NCTC’s cause, Sage Island’s graphic designers created a number of marketing materials, including a booklet, poster, and postcards.

The booklet serves as an important sales piece for potential sponsors, and includes information about the organization’s work, what they’ve accomplished already, and their ambitious plans for the future. It also contains sponsorship details, such as the different levels of sponsorship and what is included at each level. We based this design on the look and feel that Komen NCTC was using this year, then put our own spin on things to make sure each page was engaging, exciting, yet readable. The result is a booklet full of important information that’s nice to look at and fun to read.

Our posters and postcards are riffs on this same design, and we carried the look and feel over onto website banners and other promotional materials.

This helps create a strong brand identify and a cohesive look that spans the whole campaign. By embracing these pieces of traditional advertising alongside digital strategies, Komen NCTC is able to reach more sponsors, more runners, and more women, and ultimately save more lives—a goal we fully support.

It's more than a message in a bottle.
