Techniques in Motion

by Megan Hudock

Techniques in Motion is a dance studio that provides professional dance instruction and a deep appreciation for the art of movement to students in Wilmington, NC. Recently, they were in need of a redesigned website, one that better reflected the dynamic energy, talented instructors, and vibrant community they’ve cultivated. Techniques in Motion wasn’t just interested in looks, however—they also wanted a website that was functional and easy to navigate, so students and their parents could stay organized and involved.

Sage Island was happy to help Techniques in Motion achieve their goal. After meeting with them about their needs and desires, our team designed a new website worthy of the spotlight. The new homepage is black and electric blue, full of colorful and energetic graphics that catch the eye. Further down, images of dancers in various poses show the types of styles Techniques in Motion offers. When you scroll over each image, the name of the style is revealed, along with a very brief description.

The homepage is organized to provide the most important information—dance styles offered, as well as links to registration and tuition payments—front and center. Other pertinent information is linked in the header. Here, users can find a thorough “About” page, a “Staff” page with bios and photos of each instructor, and a “Gallery” of images that show off the lifestyle and personality of the studio. There is also a link to a calendar and schedule, which lists all the classes Techniques in Motion offers, as well as competitions and special events. This calendar is color-coded and can be sorted, making it easy for students and their parents to find what they need, when they need it.
